TCAS sometimes sponsors excavations, and we volunteer on other organizations' digs, too. Our members
regularly participate in the Texas Archeological Society Field School, a very large excavation that takes place each summer
the second week of June. We're also a co-sponsor of the Sometimes Annual, Official Bodacious Prewitt Conference
Archeological outreach and education are just as important as fieldwork for TCAS. Society members help represent archeology
at events like Explore UT, the Parks and Wildlife Expo and the Austin Powwow. We also recruit volunteers for activities sponsored by related organizations.
Meetings are free and open to the public. About 25 attend on second Thursdays. Meetings start at 7pm with announcements about volunteer
opportunities, museum exhibits, and discussion of any business we need to take care of. A program follows between 7:15
and 7:30. (Please note that we don't meet during June because so many of us attend the annual TAS Field School. We usually have an
informal celebration at a member's house for our December meeting.)
